About this Event

Allison Fox: The forgotten Viking kingdom across the water - Power, culture, and legacy in the Isle of Man.

Allison Fox has a Bachelor of Science degree in Archaeological Sciences and a Master of Arts degree in Museum Studies. She is an associate member of both the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and the Museum Association. Her role as curator of archaeology with Manx National Heritage involves helping to care for, and interpret, the rich archaeological heritage of the Isle of Man, of which the Viking Age is a major part.

Sean Duffy: The Vikings and the Irish Sea.

Seán Duffy, Professor of Medieval Irish and Insular History, specializes in the history of medieval Ireland and, in particular, three aspects: first, the political history of Ireland from the Viking Age to the Bruce Invasion; second, Irish relations with England, Scotland, and Wales in the same period; and third, the history and archaeology of medieval Dublin.

These lectures will be followed by a panel discussion and Q & A then rounded off with a wine reception.
