Viking age re-enactment group Draca Beorðor will have an encampment in the abbey grounds over the weekend of the 10th & 11th August 2024 from 10am-5pm both days. Throughout the day they will be demonstrating crafts, activities and aspects of life in the Viking world. SCHEDULE
10am-2pm: Living History Encampment
Displays of Viking age life, crafts and technology.
2pm: Viking Age Combat Display
A display of Viking age weapons and fighting techniques.
2.45pm: ‘Kiddie Vike’
Fight like a Viking! Can you defeat our brave warriors? (Children only).
3.30pm- 5pm: Living History Encampment
Displays of Viking age life, crafts and technology.
As a re-enactment group, Draca Beorðor aims to provide a 'cross-section' of the Viking Age by drawing on evidence from historical sources and archaeology. Members of the group portray culture within Viking Age Europe from areas in the world ranging from Birka in Sweden to Dublin, Ireland.
This event is included in your abbey admission (free for Glastonbury Abbey Members).
