About this Event
VIEW FROM THE EDGE! is a variety show hosted by interdisciplinary artist Tunde Wey that confronts disparities across class, race, and geography. Featuring music, food, remarks by invited guests, and giveaways, this event addresses the age-old question: do those with less party more? Join us in Piper Auditorium to find out.
Tunde Wey is an interdisciplinary artist who works at the intersection of food and the political economy and lives in Nigeria and the United States. Using performance, installation, film, food, and writing, Wey addresses systems of exploitative power, particularly how economics and finance impact working-class Black people globally. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, Vogue, and GQ, and his writing has been featured in the Boston Globe, Oxford American, Bloomberg, and The San Francisco Chronicle. His docuseries, “Hard to Swallow,” is a 2024 CANNESERIES Official Selection. A recipient of the Monroe Fellowship from Tulane University (2023) and the Ford Foundation Just Films Grant (2022), Tunde is currently a Loeb Fellow at the Graduate School of Design, where he is working on a book of essays to be published with MCD, a division of Farrar, Straus, & Giroux.
This event is part of ArtsThursdays, a university-wide initiative supported by Harvard University Committee on the Arts (HUCA).
