(NL) Vieux Farka Touré behoort tot de meest toonaangevende gitaristen van zijn generatie. Als zoon van de legendarische Ali Farka Touré bouwt hij voort op een rijke muzikale erfenis, maar geeft hij die een uitgesproken eigen stem. Zijn virtuoze gitaarspel, dat hem de bijnaam ‘Hendrix of the Sahara’ opleverde, verbindt Malinese tradities met invloeden uit rock, blues en Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek.
Met zijn energieke liveconcerten groeide Vieux Farka Touré uit tot een internationale publiekslieveling. Hij werkte samen met artiesten als Khruangbin, Dave Matthews, John Scofield en Idan Raichel, en stond mee op de openingsceremonie van het WK voetbal in Zuid-Afrika.

The son of legendary musician Ali Farka Touré, he builds on a rich musical heritage while forging a distinctive voice of his own. Nicknamed the “Hendrix of the Sahara”, his virtuosic guitar playing blends Malian traditions with influences from rock, blues and Latin American music.
Renowned for his electrifying live performances, Vieux Farka Touré has become an international audience favourite. He has collaborated with artists such as Khruangbin, Dave Matthews, John Scofield and Idan Raichel, and performed at the opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
