Vietnam Veterans’ Day commemorates New Zealand and Australian service in the Vietnam War. It is held each year on 18 August, the anniversary of the battle of Long Tan in 1966, when New Zealand gunners from 161 Battery and Australian infantrymen fought together against Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces.
