About this Event
During the Vietnam War (1955-1975), U.S. Navy combat artists recorded many of these activities, typically sharing the same dangers as the Sailors and Marines they accompanied.
This exhibit includes twenty-one paintings, drawings, and watercolors from seven Navy combat artists between 1965 and 1969. The scenes depicted in this exhibit give their visual sense of the Vietnam War: the colors, the landscape, the people, the tragedies, and the combat actions.
Navy Combat artists still deploy to Navy ships and commands all across the globe to gather visual information and inspiration for creating fine art for the Naval History and Heritage Command and the Navy Art Collection.
