About this Event
Picture: Scarborough Museums and Galleries.
A tour led by Dr George Sheeran, eminent researcher, lecturer and author of several books, including "The Golden Age of Yorkshire Resorts 1800-1914".
The walk is timed to allow arrival on the train from Manchester, Leeds and York due to arrive 10.53 at Scarborough railway station, itself an elegant Victorian survival, dating from 1845.
The guided walk starts at the front of Scarborough station. We then proceed to the Grand Hotel, continue to The Crescent, down to the beach at Scarborough Spa - with a break here to enjoy your lunch - up at the cliff lift, along South Cliff's elegant resort buidings and returning with a good look around St Martins-on-the-Hill (Bodley and the Morris, plus glass by Burne Jones). It is then an approximately15 minute walk back to the station.
