Victorian Photocollage Program
About this Event
Our program will begin with a short discussion about the history of Victorian Photocollage, its pracitce and impact, and an exploration of examples pulled right out of history. Then, with all the materials you need provided, we will spend time creating our own photocollages. Enjoy the ambiance of the residence as you explore one of the forms of entertainment that would have been practiced at the time of Terrace Hill's construction. If you would like to bring your own photos to further personalize your collage, you are more than welcome to. This is not required to participate. The registration fee includes collage materials and refreshments.
A Little Background:
The art of photocollage was incredibly popular in the Victorian Era. Combining photography, illustration, water color painting, and more the Victorians would create scenes that were often humorous, serious, absurd or entertaining. Used to express many different facets of life at the time, these collages were kept in albums with some being shared between friends, and others being made only for its creator to enjoy.
