Welcome to the first Victoria Wave Rave! Paddle to some sweet beats along the upper/lower Gorge waterway in Victoria, with some fun stops along the way to boogie, hydrate and snack! 🌊🏄♀️✨️✨️**This event is open to everyone! – but some paddling experience required.**✨️
🎶🎵 Paddle down the gorge and then out towards the sunset, alongside the DJ – with a specially curated playlist spanning EDM genres (house, tropical, electro)🌴✨️with some classic dance vibes thrown in for good measure 🎶🎵
✨️ Be kind, be cool, good vibes, open to meeting new people, look out for each other. :)
✨️ Have fun! Dress up in your most nautical/summer/beach attire 🧜♀️🧜♂️ and deck out your boards and snap pics to share! 🏴☠️🦜⛵️🐠🐙
✨️ Gather together as friends and meet some new ones! 🫂
✨️ Bring: Your own paddleboard/kayak/canoe, personal floatation device* (PFD), hydration/snacks, positive vibes! 🥨🧀💧🥽🏊♀️
*FYI: It is required that anyone operating a paddleboard/kayak/canoe in B.C. must have their own PFD with them or on their person.
🔺️ Etiquette:
Be sure to follow Harbour Rules (found here: https://www.fgpaddle.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FGPC-RulesoftheHarbourandGorge2019-ColRegsTrafficFlow-1.pdf )
✨️ Respect people’s space, but also be aware that we will be a large group, so will also likely be close together. Watch out for boaters, other recreational watercraft users and keep to the shorelines. 🏄♀️🛶🐋
🎶🎵 Follow the DJ: The “leader” will have a specially curated DJ mix of good EDM tunes for everyone to enjoy, so get ready to boogie and vibe on your boards/kayaks listening to some sweet beats and nostalgic dance throwbacks. The genre will primarily be EDM/house/Euro/Tropical.🎵🎶🌴✨️
✨️If this sounds like your vibe – then grab your paddles and let’s go!✨️
✨️*Some paddling experience required, as the tides/waves in upper/inner gorge can vary depending on weather/winds, not for first time paddlers. (so get some lessons in before Jul 13th!)
🔺️ Route and Stops (may change depending on weather)
🔺️ Meeting point:
Paddlers should meet in Gorge waterway, off the Banfield docks at 4pm. The idea is to stay around this area for about 30 minutes before starting to paddle. This will give latecomers a chance to join in, and for the firstcomers to enjoy some good tunes and even an early swim near the docks.
✨️The paddle will begin sharp at 4:30pm – and will head down Gorge towards Curtis Point.
1. Banfield Park Dock (4 pm, leave at 4:30)
2. Curtis Point (5:30pm)
Return Paddle to Upper Harbour
3. Banfield Park Dock (6pm)
4. Songhees Park (7pm)
5. Boom and Batten underway
6. Rainbow Park (tides/waves permitting) (8pm)
Return to Banfield Park (8-9pm)
🔺️Paddlers can come and go as they please and gauge your route depending on physical ability.
