October 15 -RCMP Dive ProgramJay White will provide a brief overview of the RCMP dive program and training undertaken by RCMP divers, followed by the presentation of a case study of a float home fire and sinking where NAS techniques were used to excavate the scene to locate a missing person and determine what had occurred.
Sgt. G.E. (Jay) White is the RCMP National URT Training Coordinator responsible for training all RCMP Underwater Recovery divers in Canada. Jay has been diving for 42 years, including 26 years as a Police Diver and recently completed his 1600th police dive for the RCMP. He has been an instructor in the diving world for 37 years, and teaching police divers for 21 years. He is also a side-scan sonar operator and ROV pilot for the RCMP. Jay’s RCMP dive career has seen him attend dive operations in every Province and Territory in Canada except for the Yukon.
