About this Event

With a career spanning over four decades, Vic Little has firmly established himself as a master of the electric bass. Known for his impeccable timing, taste, technique, and tone, Vic’s versatility has allowed him to navigate a wide spectrum of musical styles, from blues and jazz to flamenco and beyond. His extraordinary talent has led him to perform with a host of legendary artists, including Patti Austin, Billy Preston, Angela Bofill, James Carter, Charlie Musselwhite, Booker T. Jones, and Bernard Purdie.
A Chicago native, Vic was born into a musical family—his father is a saxophonist, and like many family members, he began his musical journey in the church. His early years were shaped by the sounds of iconic artists such as Aretha Franklin, Sly Stone, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, James Brown, and the Jackson 5, who dominated the airwaves during his youth. Vic’s first instrument was the trumpet, but by high school, he had fallen under the spell of the electric bass, inspired by greats like James Jamerson, Bernard Edwards, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, and Verdine White.
Vic’s influence in the bass community was solidified with the release of his acclaimed album, Inner Portrait, which featured top-tier musicians like Dennis Chambers, Thomas Pridgen, and Ruslan Sirota. He continued to push musical boundaries with Zenith Patrol VU, a collaborative effort with Haroun Serang, Paul Hanson, and Thomas Pridgen.
In addition to his work with internationally renowned artists, Vic has also been a vital part of the Bay Area music scene, collaborating with local legends such as Joyce Cooling, Frank Martin, Dick Bright, Will Bernard, and Robert Walter. His journey reflects a lifelong dedication to his craft, a deep connection to the musical community, and a legacy of influential performances and recordings.
