ABOUT BREATHWORK
Breathwork is a practice that involves conscious control of breathing patterns to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It includes various techniques, such as deep breathing, rhythmic breathing, and controlled breath holds, often used to reduce stress, increase mindfulness, and enhance relaxation. Breathwork is also employed in therapeutic settings to help individuals process emotions and achieve a deeper sense of self-awareness.

ABOUT REIKI
Reiki is a simple, gentle, loving, yet powerful Japanese technique that promotes stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki is now recognised by many modern physicians and psychotherapists to be an effective complimentary modality for balancing the body and mind. It is used around the world including in the military and hospitals.
Reiki aids mindfulness and positive thinking and promotes relaxation. It can support the body’s ability to treat itself through the reduction of stress and clearing of blocked emotions. Reiki treatments are undertaken by the practitioner placing their hands on or over the body and the client may feel a warmth or tingling sensation around their body.

ABOUT THE VENUE
The Wetlands Centre has been around since 1993 conserving and restoring and educating about the wetlands. It shares a part of it’s heritage with the original custodians of the land – the Aboriginal people of the Beeliar group (whose country extended south from the Swan and Canning Rivers)/ The Centre is a gateway to the Beeliar Regional Park, a thriving conservation reserve which was created around two parallel chains of wetlands along the Swan Coastal Plain.
Bibra Lake and North Lake, known as Walliabup and Coolbellup respectively, have been recognised as areas of Aboriginal heritage. The mythology of the ‘Waugal’ – the rainbow serpent, and dreamtime tales of the ‘Spirit Children’ have long been associated with this beautiful land. The area between North Lake and Bibra Lake has been identified as the most significant Aboriginal heritage site south of the Swan River with archaeological findings dating the site to be over 5000 years old. Numerous Aboriginal campsites have been documented adjacent to the lakes. And, Aboriginal people share strong links with the area.
The area is also home to a wide range of wildlife including turtles, Southern Brown Bandicoots, Bookbook Owls, Carnabys Black Cockatoos. During the day you can found an amazing array of birdlife as you walk around the lake and on the board walks.
