Singer-songwriter duo Greg & Jevan Madill bring their acoustic rendition of Greg’s latest project to the VFMS. ‘Blue Ice Blue’ chronicles the ill-fated Canadian Arctic Expedition which was launched from Esquimalt Harbour in June 1913 with much fanfare. The story unfurls song by song as the HMCS Karluk becomes trapped in ice and a struggle for survival ensues. The intrepid Newfoundland captain, Bob Bartlett, familiar to many on the East Coast, is largely unknown despite a heroism rivalling that of Shackelton. The songs feature Greg on vocals, guitar and mandolin; His son Jevan adds a second guitar and voice. The story drives the music in this epic tale from Canada’s forgotten past!
