Veterans Speak, a sound & visual installation

Bringing Atlanta veterans’ stories to life through recorded oral histories and portraits honoring service, civic life, and democracy.
About this Event

Veterans Speak is a sound and visual installation that highlights Atlanta veterans’ experiences through recorded oral histories and portraits. Visitors are invited to pause at listening stations, hear veterans tell their stories in their own voices, and reflect on how military service has shaped their perspectives on democracy, civic responsibility, and life in Atlanta.

Presented by the Historic Preservation Program within the Atlanta Department of City Planning’s Office of Design and Georgia Humanities. The installation honors Atlanta veterans during the 250th anniversary year of the Declaration of Independence. Together, these voices and images create a space for listening, connection, and reflection, preserving personal histories while exploring what it means to serve, belong, and participate in our shared civic life.
