About the Documentary:
Justice for My People chronicles the life and activism of Dr. Hector P. Garcia—a refugee from the Mexican Revolution, dedicated physician, decorated war veteran, civil rights advocate, and a trusted advisor to presidents—and his tireless commitment to the Mexican American civil rights movement.
After serving in World War II, Garcia confronted the harsh realities facing his community, including school segregation, deplorable living conditions, and systemic discrimination. Garcia established the American GI Forum in 1948, empowering Mexican American veterans to combat various legal and political injustices. Throughout his life, Garcia faced threats to his life, endured personal losses, and refused to be deterred by political obstacles. The film is deeply moving and inspiring, highlighting Dr. Garcia's pivotal contributions to American history.
