🎨 Winter Road
Expanding the Basics: 2-Week Acrylic Painting
Learn more than how to paint one picture. Learn the skills that help you become a stronger painter.
Our Expanding the Basics series takes the fundamentals of acrylic painting and builds upon them. You'll still learn step by step and at a comfortable pace, but we'll go deeper into the why behind what you're doing, helping you refine your techniques and understand how to use them more confidently in your own artwork.
During Winter Road, we'll use this beautiful winter landscape to explore fundamental painting skills while introducing additional tools and techniques that help bring a painting together. Depending on the painting, our Expanding the Basics classes explore concepts such as color theory, the elements of art, value, contrast, composition, layering, blending, depth, brush control, and fine details.
Why Take Expanding the Basics?
This isn't about rushing to finish a painting. It's about giving you the time and instruction to build a solid foundation.
Over two three-hour sessions, you'll have time to:
Strengthen fundamental acrylic painting techniques
Understand why certain techniques work
Refine the skills you already have
Explore additional tools and painting techniques
Develop more confidence using what you've learned
Create a finished painting while learning skills you can use again
Brand new to painting? You're welcome here. We slow things down and teach the fundamentals along the way.
Already have some experience? This class will help you strengthen, refine, and build upon your existing skills.
Even more experienced painters can benefit from getting back to the fundamentals and looking at familiar techniques with fresh eyes.
