The University of Kansas School of Music is pleased to announce the 101st annual Vespers concert, a cherished holiday tradition. This year’s celebration takes place on Thursday, December 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lied Center of Kansas in Lawrence. This is the one and only Vespers performance in Lawrence this year. Typically, Vespers in Lawrence is reserved for the first Sunday of December. However, due to changes in the KU School Calendar, there are NO Sundays in December while school is in session and this year’s performance will be taking place a little earlier than usual.
This year’s 101st Vespers concert in Lawrence includes festive favorites like John Rutter’s Sing We to this Merry Company, Ola Gjeilo’s luminous Alleluiah, and Tchaikovsky’s beloved Waltz of the Flowers. The evening also features Hope by Zachary Moore and Seeing the Star by Ben Ponniah, performed by the KU Chamber Choir, alongside performances from the Lawrence Children’s Choir and KU Trumpet Ensemble.
