Vertical Tasting: Tempranillo, Newsom Vineyards

Located just outside the West Texas town of Plains, you'll discover one of Texas' oldest and most renowned vineyards. For over 30 years, the Newsom Family has been committed to cultivating top-quality wine grapes. Their grapes have been the foundation of many award-winning wines, and they were the first to introduce Tempranillo to the state. Newsom has come to represent the gold standard of Texas-grown fruit and wine.

At this special vertical event held in our barrel room, meet Neal and Janice Newsom and taste through NINE vintages of Tempranillo made from their exceptional High Plains fruit: 2010 – 2011 – 2012 – 2014 – 2015 – 2016 – 2018 – 2019 – 2020.

Selected as one of just ten wineries nationwide for WineBusiness Monthly's 2024 Hot Brands, Bending Branch was featured in the February 2025 edition of WineBusiness Monthly. The 2020 vintage of Tempranillo is the wine that caught their attention, and it is a true expression of Texas terroir that was amplified with innovative winemaking.
