We are proud to welcome you to ‘Insufficient Funds’, Jesper Lindgren’s second solo exhibition with the gallery.
Lindgren’s practice stems from thematics surrounding gentrification and social and economic poverty.
As of today Gothenburg is one of Europe's most segregated cities. Many of our policies that were instigated during the 2000’s surrounding gentrification have been worse, rather than better, for the inclusivity between the working and middle class. It is easy to relate to Lindgren’s imagery from a Swedish perspective, with many of us growing up and still living in the “million programme” which was initiated during the sixties by Tage Erlander.
The title in correlation to both gentrification and Lindgren’s works emphasises the crevice that was created between the social classes. Whilst still pressing on the beauty of the architectural environment, Lindgren’s paintings exist in the crossroad between beauty and tragedy.
Insufficient Funds is the last and final exhibition at Hall Gallery.
Thank you all,
