Have you ever wondered what to do with kitchen scraps besides throwing them away? Join us for a fun, hands-on Vermicompost Workshop and learn how worms can help turn food waste into free nutrient-rich compost for your garden!
Lincoln University is hosting a free workshop on Tuesday, June 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Springfield Community Gardens (1471 N. Benton Ave., Springfield, MO 65802).
During the workshop, we'll cover the following topics:
Basics of vermicomposting including how to set up a worm bin, care for your worms, manage moisture, and troubleshoot common challenges. How to create a vermicompost business
Whether you're new to composting or looking for a simple way to reduce household waste, this workshop is designed to help you get started with confidence.
Best of all, each participant will leave with their own vermicomposting system, including a starter bin, bedding, worms, and educational resources to help you continue composting at home.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided at no cost.
This is also a great opportunity to connect with Lincoln University horticulture educators, ask questions, and learn about additional gardening and horticulture resources available in your area.
