James Gaffigan leads the San Francisco Symphony & Chorus in Verdi’s Requiem, the Symphony’s first time performing it since 2011. Crude as a gut punch, tender as a kiss, this Requiem translates the Latin mass for the dead into the vivid & visceral form of Italian opera. The program also includes the San Francisco Symphony premiere of several choral works by Gordon Getty, a longtime friend of the Symphony & one of San Francisco’s most celebrated composers.
