Veneering; parquetry and marquetry Weekend Course

Choose from a selection of designs using marquetry and parquetry on this weekend long fine woodworking course to create your own tray equipped with laminated handles, or a single handled wall hanging feature. This course is a perfect introduction to some of the basic techniques and tools required to create beautifully made fine furniture and woodworking pieces. Taught by professional and experienced tutors from our workshop at the Williams & Cleal fine woodworking and furniture school, Somerset UK.

Course Content:
Learn about the advantages of working with veneer and the opportunities that it offers. During your two days with us, you will make a veneered tray. Choose from our stock of veneer in varying colours, grains and species.
As well as making your own tray to take away with you, you will learn:
• Selecting veneer, book matching, slip matching.
• Various methods of pressing and jointing veneer.
• Vacuum press principles, types of press and use of equipment.
• Application of adhesives, sanding and finishing.
• Laminating and application of handles.
