Welcome to Velvet Roots - an intimate Soul & Poetry Experience.

Join us for an evening of live R&B, neo-soul, and spoken word as we celebrate storytelling in its purest form. The night will feature thought-provoking poetry, special guest performances, giveaways*, and a full live band, creating an immersive experience.

Throughout the evening, you'll experience heartfelt performances and hear the stories behind the music, making each song even more personal. And of course, no soul-filled night would be complete without incredible food from King Solomon's Kitchen, serving up delicious dishes throughout the evening.

Whether you're coming to unwind, connect with others, or simply enjoy great music and good vibes, Velvet Roots is a space to slow down, be present, and experience the heart of Calgary's soul community.

Kindé

Kindé is a UK-born, Calgary-based artist with over 14 years of performance experience. Her sound blends R&B, Afrobeats and hip-hop, rooted in gospel and soul. A two-time YYCMA nominee for Best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and two-time Canadian Black Screen Award winner, she continues to carve out a lane uniquely her own.

Bkay Won

Bkay Won is a Calgary-based singer, songwriter and rapper stepping onto the poetry stage for the second time ever. As a poet, Bkay brings fresh perspective, vulnerability, and heart to the podium and uses her words to explore love, change, growth, and everyday moments that connect us all.

Dena G

Dena G (deh-nuh) is a Calgary-based R&B-pop singer-songwriter with proud Persian roots. After years of vocal training and performance, she began sharing covers on YouTube in 2018, launching her songwriting journey. Through her music, she explores vulnerability, imperfection and human emotion, helping listeners feel seen and less alone.
