Vanya and his adopted sister Sonia have spent their lives in a peaceful, if stagnant, routine that is disrupted when their sister Masha, a famous actress with a flair for melodrama, arrives unannounced.
Masha's boyfriend, a eccentric soothsaying housekeeper, and a sweet young neighbor stir the plot towards revelation and reinvention in this brilliantly silly comedy about sibling rivalry, midlife regret, and the absurdities of modern life.
