About this Event
*General Walk - No registration required*
Description: This walk looks at Vancouver's early history up to the present, and how the decision in the 1960s not to build a freeway through the downtown has provided for a more pedestrian friendly city than others (Seattle, Toronto, etc.) that built freeways at that time. Buildings featured include Waterfront Station, Sinclair Centre, the Marine Building, Bentall Centre, Christ Church Cathedral, Cathedral Place, Hotel Vancouver, and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Walk Leader: A BC registered architect for over a dozen years, Sean has being leading Jane's Walks for over a decade.
Starting place: Inside Waterfront station by the Starbucks
How to recognize your walk leader(s): Sean will be wearing an Akubra style hat
Accessibility Info: Stairs, non-accessible curb cuts, or other barriers, busy sidewalks, loud noises, family-friendly
Travel Tips: Transit recommended, several options available to get to Waterfront (Expo Line, Canada Line, Seabus)
Walk will end at Vancouver Art Gallery
