Come and hear from some awesome local developers as they talk about their work at Sunset Visitor, Ludeon Studios, and more! On October 2nd we will be hosting Remy Siu, Natalie Tin Yin Gan, Tia Young and Arthur Protasio at the Northeastern University Vancouver Campus, starting at 5:30pm.
1000xRESIST Retrospective - Walking through the Production
Remy Siu 蕭逸南 is a composer and new media artist based in Vancouver, BC (located on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied traditional lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations of the Coast Salish peoples). His work has been presented at PuSh International Performing Arts Festival (Vancouver), The Music Gallery (Toronto), Centre for New Music (San Francisco), Power Station of Art (Shanghai), Tai Kwun Contemporary (Hong Kong), Vancouver Art Gallery, MUTEK Montreal, artsdepot (London), MATA (New York) Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Utrecht), National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, The International Symposium On Electronic Art, and more. In 2021, he founded sunset visitor 斜陽過客, an independent video game studio focused on narrative experiences. They just released their debut game, 1000xRESIST.
Natalie Tin Yin Gan (顏婷妍) is an independent choreographer, interdisciplinary artist, and writer working on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples. Her practice squats at the intersections of food, feminisms, race, voice, and body. She has presented, performed, and spoken in Seattle, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, and across Canada. Natalie is the Co-Artistic Director of company Hong Kong Exile that explores the historical and contemporary politic of the Chinese diaspora. She is a graduate of The Writer’s Studio and completing her teacher certification in Fitzmaurice Voicework®. Natalie is a late sleeper, a late riser, a late bloomer, a latecomer, and a late-night snacker. She publishes under a pseudonym and is currently writing for indie video game company Sunset Visitor Studios.
A postmortem on RimWorld's expansions
Tia Young is the marketing director for RimWorld and Ultimate Chicken Horse. She’s behind the marketing for RimWorld’s expansions Ideology, Biotech, and Anomaly, as well as Ultimate Chicken Horse’s Shellebration Update and Pandamonium Update. Tia loves to read postmortems, write reviews, and record herself playing horror games.
Arthur Protasio: Q&A
Arthur Protasio is a Latin American Emmy-nominated writer-director with over 10 years of experience renowned for his narrative-driven projects across more than 20 games, VR, comics, film, and TV. His work on indie, AAA, and blockbuster franchises, including Disney's Mickey Mouse, Asimov's Foundation, Dreamworks' Trolls, and Netflix's Cobra Kai, has garnered international accolades such as Best Game, Best Narrative, and Best VR awards. As the founder and CEO of the creative studio Fableware, Arthur crafts original stories and provides narrative development expertise to clients worldwide on multiplatform projects. With a Law and Design background plus experience as a creative writing professor at the University of British Columbia, Arthur is a community leader dedicated to creating modern-day fables that inspire diversity, critical thinking, and social change.
