About this Event
How does picking up a new creative habit influence your main work?
What happens when you stop limiting yourself to the creative label printed on your business card?
This month we’re playing in the area outside our expertise—and exploring the opportunities that appear when we step outside of our comfort zone.
What Is Creative Cross-Training?
Athletes use cross-training to work on an area that will affect their primary sport (eg. snowboarders can bike to improve leg strength and balance).
Creative cross-training is similar: learn a new creative skill to get better at your primary craft. A designer could learn to code. An illustrator could learn piano.
The actual skill doesn’t matter, so long as it’s new to you.
The Creative Cross-Training Experiment Forces You To Embrace Creativity In A New Way
Join us on Thursday, November 27.
Join us at the next Creative Pulse to hear about our own creative cross-training experiments. We’ll facilitate some light-hearted creative cross-training sessions (flex your creative muscles with options like hand lettering and poster design).
- Collaborate more effectively with other creatives and co-workers
- Re-discover the excitement of expressing your creativity in a totally new way
- Learn something you’ve always wanted to learn
Join us at The Beaumont Studios for tasty beverages and snacks—and embrace your creativity in a brand new way.

Meet The Presenters
As a self-proclaimed Letter Nerd, Alanna draws a lot of letterforms, mostly through her work at Alanna Munro Type Foundry. Alanna is a self-taught type designer, typography teacher at BCIT, and co-organizer of the Type Brigade speaker series. She loves sharing her knowledge and has learned a lot about how others approach typographic problems through live-streaming type design on the interwebs.
Jayshree is an Associate Creative Director / copywriter from London, now living and freelancing in Vancouver. She collaborates with advertising agencies, brands and creators who need crisp, sharp writing for their next ad campaign, brand platform or creative project.
She’s played in the sandbox at top creative agencies including Google Zoo, Ogilvy, FCB London, Meta and Rethink. On, A&W, Dishoom, Instagram, Telus, Ford and BMW are among the long list of clients she’s written for in the last 13 years.
Jayshree’s other credits include launching her own intro to copywriting course, judging at D&AD New Blood, getting elected as President of SheSays London – a volunteer-led community for female creatives – and being named as a Campaign Future Leader & Face To Watch. She’ll also share her poetry at open mics every now and then.
Adrian Duchateau is a seasoned professional visual creator and entrepreneur from Mexico with over 15 years of experience and a deep understanding and passion for the visual storytelling process. He is one of the founders of OME Productions, a video and photography production company based in Vancouver and Mexico City. When he is not working or producing art pieces, he can be found hiking and having fun with his lovely dog, Tony.
