Straight-Ahead Uncompromising Cocktail Music, and maybe a bonus or two, from the creator and host of Radio from Downtown.
The Van Williamson Trio features Eddie Eatmon, bass, and Dean Haemel, drums, with special guests John Harris, trombone, and Felix Contreras, percussion.
Guitarist Van Williamson’s experience spans across musical genres and both coasts of the country.
Playing in jazz and bluegrass bands in the San Francisco Bay Area, he was a founding member of The Electric Guitar Quartet, an ensemble performing classical string quartet music on electric guitars. Here in the Chesapeake Bay area, Williamson has performed with everyone from the Delmarva Big Band and the Bay Jazz Project, to the Joe Baione Trio and the No No Nonette, among other groups around the region.
And since 2018 he’s performed with Los DayTrippers, a sextet specializing in Beatles music with Latin rhythms.
Beyond his musical career, Van Williamson was also director of NPR’s Morning Edition before retiring to devote more time to music. As an independent radio producer, he created the long-running, Shore-based musical variety program “Radio from Downtown at the Avalon Theatre” here in Easton.
