Hay músicos que son un continente ellos solos, gigantes imposibles de etiquetar. Uno de ellos es, sin duda, Van Morrison, que, ¡finalmente!, debutará en nuestro festival a punto de cumplir 81 años y después de más de 60 años de carrera. Nacido en 1945, el llamado León de Belfast creció escuchando la colección de discos de su padre, apasionado del blues, el country y el gospel.Nombres como Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Muddy Waters, Mahalia Jackson y Leadbelly conformaron el paisaje sonoro de su niñez antes de crear su primer grupo, Them, en 1964. Muy pronto se convirtió en una estrella de la escena británica del R&B, con discos como Astral Weeks (1968) y clásicos como Gloria y Here Comes The Night. Hoy, Van Morrison continúa al frente de su banda ofreciendo música cautivadora que evoca todos los colores del blues, del soul y del jazz. Su último disco, el muy emocionante Somebody Tried to Sell Me a Bridge, demuestra que Van Morrison sigue en plena forma y que su amor por el blues (con homenajes a músicos como B.B. Van Morrison is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, author, poet and multi-instrumentalist, who is widely considered one of the most influential artists in the history of music. He has multiple albums that are ranked as the greatest in the entire rock and roll canon.
Van Morrison has journeyed far and wide since his early days, however performing in Spain is always a spectacle to behold. His live performances are always music making at the highest pinnacle of musicianship, and his songcraft is of the highest level of any living performer today.
One of the great singers in all of music, he remains at the absolute peak of his vocal powers. It is compelling, emotive and feels effortless as he stands still delivering vocals that feel like they can reach the heavens. On this night, he and his band soared to the highest reaches yet again. But that is nothing new for one of rock's true greats.
Catch Van and his exceptional band live this 03 of July for an unforgettable performance. Earlier this year, Van’s latest album Remembering Now entered the UK top 20, featuring the uplifting track Down To Joy – as heard in Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-winning film Belfast (2021).
