The Valparaiso Creative Council (VCC) is thrilled to announce the second annual Valpo Creates Camp, a dynamic youth engagement initiative designed to spark creativity and artistic exploration across Valparaiso. Building on the success of last year’s partnership with the YMCA, this year’s program proudly expands to include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana (Valparaiso Campus) and Hilltop Neighborhood House.Throughout the month of June, Valpo Creates Camp will bring engaging, hands-on workshops in theater, dance, visual arts, and music to participating youth at these three community sites. Each creative workshop will be hosted by a featured local arts organization and integrated into the regular schedule of existing summer camp programs at the host locations, at no additional cost to attendees.
“We’re excited to expand this program to even more young learners across Valparaiso,” said VCC Executive Director, Jessica Corral. “By offering creative enrichment through valuable community organizations, we’re ensuring campers have fun, explore various art forms, and connect with professional artists in a meaningful way. Engagement with local art organizations is so key for developing a life-long connection to the Arts.”
June 2025 Valpo Creates Camp Schedule:
Wednesdays: Boys & Girls Club
Thursdays: Hilltop
Fridays: YMCA
1. Theater with Memorial Opera House
June 4, 5, and 6
Campers will explore performance skills and create a collaborative skit in this immersive theater experience.
2. Dance with Indiana Ballet Theatre
June 11, 12, and 13
Campers will learn diverse dance styles and discover their own movement expression through guided workshops.
3. Visual Arts with Stargirl Crafts
June 18, 19, and 20
Campers will explore color and create a summer-themed art project to take home.
4. Music with South Shore Orchestra
June 25, 26, and 27
Campers will get to explore and interact with various musical instruments in this Instrument Petting Zoo.
Each creative partner will rotate between the three camp venue sites, ensuring campers at Hilltop Neighborhood House, the YMCA, and the Boys & Girls Club all have access to each artistic discipline.
Prospective campers should contact each organization directly for registration details and availability. Participation is limited to those enrolled in summer camp programs at the respective host locations.
The Valpo Creates Camp initiative is made possible through the support of our community donors, partners and talented local artists who are committed to inspiring the next generation of creators.
