We’re teaming up with Landfall Foundation and The Endowment to give away 1,000+ FREE native trees! Each household may take home up to two trees—first come, first served.
From 9AM-11AM, families of students who attend D.C. Virgo, DREAMS of Wilmington, Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern NC, Voyage, and/or Dorothy B. Johnson Pre-K get first dibs. The event will open to the general public at 11AM.
Join us at D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy (813 Nixon Street) to choose from a climate-ready lineup of native species, including:
- Southern live oak (Quercus virginiana)
- Overcup oak (Quercus lyrata)
- Blackgum (Nyssa sylvatica)
- Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum)
- Longleaf pine (Pinus palustris)
- Sweetbay magnolia (Magnolia virginiana)
- Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana)
- Pawpaw (Asimina triloba)
- Eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis)
- American hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana)
- Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum)

Need help picking the right tree for your yard? No worries! Certified arborists and Tree Stewards will be on hand to offer expert guidance, planting tips, and long-term care advice.
This is part of our mission to grow a healthier, more resilient tree canopy across the Lower Cape Fear—especially in fast-developing areas that are losing trees at an alarming rate.
