Valentines Calligraphy and Cocktails at The LAB, Cambridge

The Cambridge Calligrapher has teamed up with Cambridge BID and The Lab, as part of The Cambridge Arts Festival, to bring you a creative evening of Valentine's Day themed calligraphy, great company and excellent drinks. Your ticket includes one cocktail from our whimsical festival themed collection.Learn the beautiful art of modern calligraphy in an interactive and intimate workshop, where you will work on beautiful gifts for yourself or your loved ones with, Su Khanna, an experienced local calligrapher.

This workshop is designed for all abilities, so no experience is necessary. The small group size will ensure you have lots of personal attention, fun and feel ready to create a beautiful poster, card or gift tags. All workshops foster a calm and friendly atmosphere with a focus on wellbeing. You will start by understanding the basics of how to use a dip pen and nib with simple exercises learning to create thick and thin strokes, then applying these techniques to working your way through the alphabet creating letterforms in calligraphy. You will then be guided through letter joining and creating words in a modern calligraphy style with lots of guidance and demonstrations.

In the second part of the session, you will apply your new skills to work on your chosen project using calligraphy ink. We will be creating indulgent gifts including, a card, an A6 Print and gifts for self care. Gifts are of course suitable as a Valentine’s day gift for your partner, your bestie or yourself! A full wax seal experience station will also be set up for you to enjoy the mindful process and calming activity.
