Valentine Calligraphy Workshop

This one-hour adult workshop will be led by local calligrapher, Virginia Lucas Hart of virginialucashart.com / @ihartvirginia, and is designed for anyone interested in learning basics of pointed-pen calligraphy and creating a beautiful penned Valentine.

Virginia will demonstrate her calligraphy and share secrets of properly setting up and using a dip pen with a nib. Guests will practice writing names and phrases before personalizing their Valentines. Attendees will also learn creative ways to elevate their envelopes, such as affixing wax seals.

Interested in continuing your calligraphy practice and education? Each attendee will receive their own calligraphy kit of tools, ink, practice exemplars, resources, and more to take home.

This makes for a perfect winter outing with friends, and there's no better way to spend National Handwriting Day. Guests can also shop Rock Paper Scissors during the workshp for any gift and stationery needs.

A portion of proceeds from your class ticket will be donated to Loaves & Fishes, a local food pantry here in Charlottesville.

Virginia has been a professional calligrapher for over 10 years. She is one of 3 national calligraphers for Bella Figura and serves direct clients worldwide. Her work has been featured in several wedding publications including StyleMePretty and BRIDES magazine. Her past clients include David Yurman, Estée Lauder, and the University of Virginia. Her instructional children's book, "Fun and Friendly Calligraphy for Kids" was published by Ulysses Press in 2017.
