Host: Alec Barr

A thought leader in the fields of cognitive-behavioural science and generative AI, Alec engineered the world's first chatbot modelled on Rory Sutherland (the “Rory SutherBot”). He is also an accredited behavioural science ethicist, keeping a watchful eye on the moral implications of technological innovation. Is it ethical to replace humans with robots? Join Alec, behaviour change expert and tech philosopher, as he explores the controversial potential of "synthetic personas" – digital clones of real people – to unlock customer insight at speed. Can these digital doppelgängers capture the messy, nuanced reality of the human condition, or are we chasing phantoms?

Talk 4 - There and Back Again: Navigating the Design Career Crossroads
Host: Nate Langley

Nate thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional teams, where design craft and clarity of thought can drive real impact.
"I crafted this talk specifically for mid-career designers contemplating their next move. However, it's useful for more and less experienced folks, too. I'll demystify both paths, revealing why our industry needs managers and senior individual contributors to thrive. Drawing from my journey and conversations with other senior designers who've faced similar decisions, I'll share practical frameworks and candid insights about what each path truly entails.
Whether you're drawn to leadership or deepening your craft, you'll leave with tools to make an informed choice and realistic expectations for the road ahead. "
