Info on Jake Dahl:
Hi, we are Steve & Kris Teofilo, close friends of Dan & Belinda Dahl and we have set up a GoFundMe on their behalf for their son, Jake, who was recently in a very serious auto accident and who unfortunately is facing a long & challenging recovery!
100% of the funds are going into an account set up for Jake Dahl by his parents to be used solely for Jake's current & ongoing expenses. The Dahls have always been extremely generous and they have made a big difference in so many ways for so many others in need. Now they need our help!
Please consider donating for Jake, to help relieve the mounting financial burden. Together, we can make this one less thing to worry about, during a time when his family's sole focus needs to be on bringing Jake back to us all. Please also continue to follow Jake's updates here - https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jacob3
Thank you very much for your consideration and support during this very difficult time! Steve & Kris
Here is Jake's story as told by Dan & Belinda Dahl -
- On the night of January 17th, 2023, our lives were interrupted by “that call”. The one that people have been talking about for years since I became a dad in a way that I could only empathize with……until now. That night, at 10:03 pm our “parents' worst nightmare” fears were realized as our 1st born, Jacob Dahl was involved in an automobile accident that flipped our world upside down on its head.
Jake was on his way home from work that night when the 2012 Toyota Camry he was driving slid off the wet road and into a tree head-on. Within a few short minutes, the car was engulfed in flames and Jake was pulled out of the vehicle, unconscious, by a passerby who came upon the wreck. We thank god each day for the guardian angel sent to save him that night. He was taken to St Vincent’s hospital in Green Bay via Eagle One life flight in pretty rough shape. He was diagnosed with a broken right femur which was repaired and a severe traumatic brain injury known as DAI or diffuse axonal injury.
In the 18 days that have followed, Jake has been in the fight of his 24 years in the ICU at St Vincent’s with one of the best medical teams I have ever met caring for him. He has endured 4 surgeries, a central IV line placement, intubation that transitioned into tracheotomy placement, and too many needle pokes to count. As of this morning, he remains unconscious and responding minimally to pain or outside stimulus. The road ahead for Jake is full of unknowns as is the case in most of these types of brain injuries. Once he is alert and awake, off of the many IV medications he is currently on, and free of the ventilator assistance he is currently needing – the plan will be to transfer him to an LTAC (long-term acute care) facility outside of the area.
The road to recovery can be arduous for patients in this condition and we continue to pray for a positive outcome. Jake is a young, strong, stubborn, and healthy guy aside from these injuries – all qualities that are keys to overcoming this type of injury. I will continue to update you all on his condition, and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for reaching out with prayers, meals, and so many offers to assist during these trying days.
With love and gratitude; Dan, Belinda, Cam, and our family.
