The University of Southern Indiana continues its 2026-2027 season with their second main stage performance of the year. The Old Man and The Old Moon will be performed in the Neal Franklin Theatre October 29th thru November 1st at 7:00 PM on Thursday and Friday and 2:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. With book, music and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Company, Old Man will become the second production to be directed by a USI Theatre student to be performed on the main stage. Directed by Brecken Maddox '27, who previously directed USI Theatre’s first outdoor show The Grow-Ups, brings her multi-show experience to the production.
The Old Man has kept his post as the sole caretaker of the moon for as long as he (or his wife, the Old Woman) can remember. When she is drawn away by a mysterious melody that sparks memories of their shared past, the Old Man must decide between duty (and routine) and love (and adventure). Luckily for audiences everywhere, he chooses the latter, and what follows is an imaginative sea-faring epic, encompassing apocalyptic storms, civil wars, leviathans of the deep, cantankerous ghosts and the fiercest obstacle of all: change.
Tickets for The Old Man and The Old Moon start at $15.00 and are available at our new ticket shop website, https://usi-theatre.vivenushop.com. This new site features the option to build a season package for all of our main stage performances or to purchase single event tickets. Reserved seating is available so that patrons can pick their preferred seats. Student RUSH tickets will also be available for any USI student who presents a student ID one hour before the show. RUSH tickets are limited in number and are issued on a first come first serve basis.
