USGBC Carolinas and AIA Triangle Committee On The Environment in Durham

AIA Triangle Committee On The Environment and USGBC Carolinas invite you to attend a panel discussion, tour, and social at the new office of DPR construction in RTP located at 3175 Genesis Way, Durham NC 27703.

The office space was designed by Gensler and built by DPR Construction. It features an open workspace with daylighting from skylights and solar tubes as well as side lighting, training rooms, and meeting rooms within a warehouse space where DPR will do research and prefabrication of construction elements for projects in the region.

The office is pursuing USGBC LEED Commercial Interiors and IWBI WELL certification. The building will also pursue LEED Zero Energy certification 12 months after the solar system is installed on the roof of the office space and the warehouse which will offset all the energy used in the building.

Alicia Ravetto FAIA and LEED Fellow and architect Chetan Potdar from DPR Construction will be joined by Jessica Pearson , Strategy Lead and Design Manager from Gensler to discuss the features of the building, then lead participants on a tour of the facility to end with a social gathering and networking.

Learning objectives1. Understand sustainability from the perspective of a construction company working collaboratively with the architects. 2. Get an overview of the opportunities and challenges of certifying the building under LEED and WELL. 3. Learn about using pre and post-occupancy surveys to evaluate occupants’ satisfaction. Link lessons learned from this project to an emphasis on the human experience and LEED.4. Explain how the most notable design, construction, and operations strategies contributed to building performance factors and achieving LEED.5. Discuss the outcomes of the project and how green building strategies added value.
