About this Event
USF#4: Truth and Reconciliation, Decolonization, and Resiliency in Maternal Health
January 13th, 2025 | 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM (PHX Time)
Join us for the highly anticipated United Spirits Forum #4, a transformative event dedicated to addressing the critical themes of Truth and Reconciliation, Decolonization, and Resiliency in Maternal Health.
As maternal health inequities continue to affect Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) disproportionately, this event serves as a vital space for honest dialogue, learning, and action. Through this forum, we aim to shed light on the historical and systemic factors that contribute to these disparities and to reimagine a future rooted in equity, cultural humility, and justice.
Led by Dr. Stephanie Little Hawk-Big Crow, an esteemed advocate for Indigenous health and community healing, this event will explore:
- Truth and Reconciliation: Examining the impact of historical trauma and systemic racism on maternal health and the importance of acknowledging past harms to foster healing.
- Decolonization: Redefining maternal health practices to center on Indigenous knowledge systems, cultural traditions, and the lived experiences of women in underserved communities.
- Resiliency: Highlighting the strength and agency of BIWOC in navigating and overcoming barriers to maternal health equity.
This event will feature powerful presentations, interactive discussions, and actionable strategies to dismantle inequities and promote healing in maternity care. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how to incorporate these critical frameworks into their professional practices and advocacy efforts.
Virtual Participation: To ensure inclusivity, we are pleased to offer virtual access for attendees who cannot join in person.
Whether you are a clinician, social service provider, community leader, advocate, or ally, USF#4 is a must-attend event for those committed to advancing maternal health equity and creating systemic change.
Registration: Eventbrite invitations will be distributed soon—keep an eye out for details in your inbox!
Let’s come together to foster truth, reconciliation, and hope for a more equitable future in maternal health for all women!
