Are you concerned about the lack of respect given to our flag?
On September 11, following Freehold Borough's 9-11 service across the street, American Legion Post 54 will conduct a short class that will teach proper etiquette and respect for the flag of the United States of America. At the conclusion of the class a ten question quiz will be given and all who pass will be given an 11" x 17" flag free of charge.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to this class, and they may work on the quiz with them. The class will be based on the American Legion booklet "Let's Be Right on Flag Etiquette" and will be non-political.
The class is free to everyone, but preregistration is needed so that we'll have enough flags. For the registration form go here: https://bit.ly/post54class Email us at [email protected] if you have any questions.
This class is for people that love our country and want to learn the proper way to treat our flag. You do not have to be an American Legion member to attend and there is no minimum or maximum age requirement.
Some of the topics covered will be:
1. Pledge of Allegiance to the flag; manner of delivery.
2. Respect for the flag.
3. History of the flag and what the colors, stars and strips signify.
4. How to conduct yourself during the playing of our national anthem.
If you believe that honor and respect for our flag are important, please help spread the word by liking and sharing this event with your friends.
