The Urban Sketchers Route 66 Centennial Exhibit on display Aug. 4 - 25 celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Mother Road through the collaboration of the seven Urban Sketchers chapters located along Route 66.
These chapters include Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Springfield, MO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Santa Fe, NM; and Los Angeles, CA.
Attend the free opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 in the Event Hall of the McKeon Center for Creativity.
Urban Sketchers Tulsa initiated and coordinated this effort, receiving over 300 Route 66 site-specific sketches. Together, these sketches form a visual journey across Route 66, from Chicago to Santa Monica.
Urban Sketchers is a global community of sketchers dedicated to the practice of drawing on location in an urban environment. The seven Route 66 Urban Sketchers chapters are part of a network of approximately 600 international chapters.
