Urban Sketchers Indy: Columbus, IN Field Trip

We’ll spend the day exploring downtown, drawing the city’s remarkable architecture, public art, and lively streetscapes from the morning Farmers Market to a Hot Rods show in the afternoon. Whether you’re a seasoned sketcher or a beginner, an Indy regular or Columbus local, this is a chance to slow down, observe, and capture the spirit of the place with pen and paper. Bring your favorite sketching supplies, comfortable shoes, and curiosity—we’ll provide the company and inspiration!

Schedule

Feel free to meet us in the morning and hang out all day, or come and go as you are able!

• 9:00 am - Meet in Columbus @ Lucabe Coffee Co.
• 9:30 - 12:00 - Drawing Session 1 and Throwdown @ 5th & Jackson St Plaza
• 12:30 - 1:30 - Independent Lunch @ Downtown
• 2:00 - 4:00 - Drawing Session 2 and Throwdown @ BCPL Plaza
• 4:30 - 5:30 - Social Hour @ Upland Pump House

Cost & Transportation

The event will be free to attend. All participants will be responsible for their own transportation, parking, food, and drinks. Indy Urban Sketchers encourages carpooling for the field trip. We will try to help initially connect potential carpool drivers/passengers, but final logistics will need to be coordinated between participants.

Parking

 Jackson Street Garage for all day public parking (free on weekends); free public street parking for 3 hours at a time only

What to Bring

Come prepared for rain or shine! We recommend bringing your own chair/seat or blanket, as well as a water bottle, in addition to your sketching supplies. There are public restrooms and water fountains available downtown.
