Urban Safari Photo Walk: Too Close

What if the things we usually overlook… were actually the most interesting things to see?

Welcome to the Urban Safari Photo Walk! For our next expedition, our theme is:

Too Close

Cracked sidewalks. Rusty fences. Weird shadows. Peeling paint. Forgotten corners.

Things that might normally be overlooked suddenly become fascinating when we slow down, look closer, and capture them through a creative lens.

We’ll begin with a short gathering to set the intention for the walk and introduce the theme.

Then participants will head out in pairs for a 40-minute urban safari, exploring the surrounding neighborhood and capturing photos that reflect the theme. Your phone camera works perfectly. No fancy equipment required.

The goal isn’t snapping the perfect photo. It’s curiosity.

You might discover beauty in a broken object, a strange texture, a surprising color combination, or a moment you would normally walk right past.

After our safari, we’ll return to the Ashram to:

• Share 2–3 favorite photos
• Add them to a group slideshow
• Reflect on what we noticed and experienced
• Enjoy seeing the neighborhood through each other's eyes

By the end of the morning, we’ll have created a collaborative visual story of the adventure and everyone will receive the slideshow movie afterward.

• Meaningful conversation and reflection
