Description: August is a great time to visit the Lorain Impoundment, a distinctly urban and industrial setting that makes it an interesting location for observing wildlife. This restored wetland often hosts late summer shorebirds such as Least, Semipalmated, Spotted, and Solitary Sandpipers when water levels are right. Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, and Green Herons are regular throughout the season, and swallows sweep over the open water.
