Join Charles Debarber, expert beekeeper and steward of the Filbert Street Garden apiary, for an immersive, hands-on workshop designed for aspiring beekeepers. Whether you're curious about urban beekeeping, looking to start your first hive, or simply fascinated by honeybees, this workshop offers an accessible and engaging introduction to the world of Apis Mellifera.
Participants will learn:
- The fundamentals of beekeeping
- Essential equipment and how to use it safely
- How to set up and maintain a healthy hive
- Seasonal tasks and hive inspections
- Common challenges (and how to avoid them)
You'll also get a close-up look at the thriving hives at Filbert Street Garden and gain practical insights from Charles’s years of experience managing urban bee colonies. You'll walk away with the knowledge and confidence to begin your own beekeeping journey and a deeper appreciation of these incredible pollinators!
