At some time, every kid becomes a bystander — someone who witnesses bullying but doesn’t get involved out of fear or lack of knowing what to do.
But that child can be an “Upstander” instead — the person who knows what’s happening is wrong and does something to make things right. It takes courage to speak up on someone’s behalf.
On October 23th 2021, the Davis Phoenix Coalition will be hosting an Upstander Carnival for elementary age children from 10:00am - 1:00pm at Davis Central Park 401 C Street in Davis. This Carnival will consist of familiar carnival games with the added element of learning to be an Upstander. Our aim is to give children resources for dealing with this common and impactful situation.
There will be free prizes, tote-bag giveaways to early arrivers and a fun zone.
We are in need of Volunteers, and Sponsors. Organizations that work on creating positive spaces for children are welcome to host an activity or separate table. To sign up please visit, https://bit.ly/UpStander
