UpRootED Art-Making and Nature Play Workshop at Palmer Park

Come join us for the UpRootED Art-Making and Nature Play Workshop with Stephanie Onwenu of Ijeomalandartscapes LLC for a day of creativity using materials, plants and nature in the park. Awakening the senses, participants will engage in a guided group meditation exercise followed by a nature walk along the wooded areas and trails in the park to collect materials. The workshop will end with an art making activity where participants respond to the question: What does having a park in your neighborhood means to you?

The event will be held outside the Historic Log Cabin at Palmer Park from 2 pm - 4 pm.

This art making workshop is a part of the “UpRooted Project” a creative art making project by Stephanie Onwenu that explores creativity, art and history in public spaces while capturing the stories of place. The result of this creative workshop will then be displayed as a public art installation in September during the Detroit Month of Design.
