About this Event
Upper Darby is making history with its first Juneteenth Celebration! The festival will feature live music, food trucks, carnival games, face painting, and local vendors, creating a full day of family-friendly fun and community celebration.
As part of the day’s programming, guests will also have the opportunity to experience the Underground Railroad Experience. Upper Darby has a powerful yet little-known connection to the Underground Railroad, and this guided trolley tour invites participants to step back in time through the community.
The experience includes a reflective stop beneath the trees at Arlington Cemetery, where historical interpreters portraying Harriet Tubman and Thomas Garrett will bring stories of courage, sacrifice, and resilience to life. Their storytelling illuminates Upper Darby’s meaningful role in the fight for freedom, reminding attendees that this history lives right here at home.
