Uplift & Rise: Heather Nash, Deep Greenwood Foundation
About this Event
Heather N. Nash, a lifelong Tulsa resident and descendant of 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre survivor Ruth Dean Nash, is the Executive Director of the Deep Greenwood Foundation. With a 28-year career in nonprofit programming and 22 years in political campaigning, Nash works to empower underserved populations and rebuild Greenwood’s legacy through action, genealogy, and education.
As co-founder of the foundation, Nash spearheaded a vital certification program in partnership with the Greenwood Cultural Center to help formalize and trace family records for 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre descendants.
The Deep Greenwood Foundation utilizes education focusing on practical reading, writing, and math as a form of restitution to uplift the local Black community and close the generational wealth gap. She wrote the Deep Greenwood Foundations restitution plan that was presented to the City of Tulsa in 2025.
Community Partnerships: Nash and her nonprofit work alongside vital local entities, including the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oklahoma State University, and Tulsa Public Schools, to bridge resource and knowledge gaps for students, teachers, and parents.
She previously served as the country’s number one HIV/AIDS educator at the Red Cross and has extensive experience executing community-focused programs and agricultural projects.
