About this Event

Workshop Description

Learn how to update your dining chair slip seats with upcycled fabrics.

Have you ever wondered what the process looks like to reinvent your chairs? This class will show you how to, from stripping the slip seat down to the wooden base, assessing and replacing webbing (if needed), measuring, cutting, and installing upholstery foam, batting, to the final cover.

Project chairs must be approved before start of class. If you have a chair you'd like to bring in, please email [email protected]. If you don't have a project, a chair will be provided.

*Please feel free to bring your own hand tools if you have them.*

About Sue Green

Furniture Re.designer & Custom Upholsterer

I started crafting when I was 10 and have never stopped. As an adult I redirected my creative energies by working in the kitchen & interior design industry but was always drawn back to being a maker. More than a decade ago I began taking evening classes to learn the trade of furniture upholstery and embarked on a satisfying, career journey.

As a newbie, I focused on finding pieces of furniture destined for landfill that had terrific lines and developed my skills and personal style teaming the pieces with unexpected fabrics to give them a second life. Each piece had its own challenges and was truly unique. Now, I have a custom upholstery workshop where I help clients reimagine their cherished furniture by reupholstering them with fabrics from a number of curated fabric suppliers. The workshop is not limited to furniture, other types of projects also come into the workshop – bench cushions, outdoor cushions, and wall hangings to name a few!
