Please join us at the dedication ceremony of the Des Moines East High School Auditorium for Iowa House Representative and retired East High drama teacher, Ruth Ann Gaines."Representative Ruth Ann Gaines was an educator of Drama and Theater Arts for 40 years at East High School, was named Iowa Teacher of the Year and now serves as the Representative of North and East Des Moines in the Iowa House of Representatives. Ms. Gaines has been a stalwart in social and racial justice since the 1960's and is a pillar of the community.
Ruth Ann has touched tens of thousands of lives through her classes at East High and Des Moines Area Community College.
When Ms. Gaines traveled to Washington DC as 'Teacher of the Year', she put East High on the national stage. It's only fitting that East High now puts Ms. Gaines' name on the school theaters stage!"
